Duration: full day excursion
Departure: Cala Gonone
Walking trail: 90 minutes one way + visit of the Nuragic village
Description of the trekking:
Once at the tunnel of Cala Gonone follow the 125 state road heading towards Cagliari. After a few kilometres take the first detour to the right and follow the narrow paved track that makes its way through the olive groves, vineyards and pastures of the valley of Oddoene. This sweet rural landscape reaches the spectacular rocky walls overlooking the river “Rio Flumineddu”.
Once there, the jeep will be parked close to the S’abba Arva bridge and the one and a half hour trek begins. The initial part of the path is an old “scala” (steep ascent) made of calcareous rocks.
The climb up takes 20 minutes. Thereafter, the path makes its way into the wood of Holm Oaks with easy ascents. In the last part, we find the final ascents that lead to the top of the mountain. Here we can admire a huge cave with a collapsed vault that guards the secret Nuragic village.
The visit of the archaeological site lasts 45 minutes during which the guides will recount the story of this mysterious village and how its archaeological uniqueness makes it incomparable in Sardinia.
