Unaccompanied excursions are to be carried out exclusively on easy itineraries. Some trails need the use of off-road vehicles.

Guided trekking tours require a minimum of 4 people.

TREKKING CANYON OF GORROPPU

GORROPPU FROM SU CONGIADEDDU

Duration: full day excursion with a guide
Departure: Cala Gonone
Walking trail: 50 minutes one way + 60 minutes in the canyon

Description of the trekking:
Departure is from Cala Gonone by car. Once you have passed the tunnel, head straight on the 125 state road heading towards Cagliari . After a 15-minute ride we find the Base Camp of Gorroppu.

From there, the jeeps will descend down the slope and arrive at the Flumineddu River. The 20-minute jeep ride winds its way through the woods and the Mediterranean bush in a natural, wild and scenic setting.

The path to the Canyon starts from the riverbed and reaches the entrance of the Canyon after a 45 minute walk.

GORROPPU FROM THE VALLEY OF ODDOENE (DORGALI)

Walking trail:  minimum  120 minutes one way + 60 minutes in the Canyon

Description of the trekking:
Once at the tunnel of Cala Gonone, follow the 125 state road heading towards Cagliari.  After a few kilometres take the first detour to the right and follow the narrow paved track that makes its way through the olive groves, vineyards and pastures of the valley of  Oddoene. This sweet rural landscape reaches the spectacular rocky walls  overlooking the river “Rio Flumineddu”.  Once there, the jeep will be parked just near the S’abba Arva bridge and the 2-hour trek towards the entrance of the Canyon begins. Here the impervious path winds up and down and amongst the woods and the Mediterranean maquis.  The stops along the way at the rest areas are even more enjoyable. Here, you will be surrounded by fountains of fresh water and beautiful views over the clear pools along the river.

TREKKING - THE NURAGIC VILLAGE OF TISCALI

TISCALI FROM THE VALLEY OF ODDOENE- DORGALI

Walking trail: 90 minutes one way + visit of the Nuragic village

Description of the trekking:
Once at the tunnel of Cala Gonone follow the 125 state road heading towards Cagliari. After a few kilometres take the first detour to the right and follow the narrow paved track that makes its way through the olive groves, vineyards and pastures of the valley of  Oddoene. This sweet rural landscape reaches the spectacular rocky walls  overlooking the river “Rio Flumineddu”.

Once there, the jeep will be parked close to the S’abba Arva bridge and the one and a half hour trek begins. The initial part of the path is an old  “scala” (steep ascent) made of calcareous rocks.

The climb up takes 20 minutes. Thereafter, the path makes its way into the wood of Holm Oaks with easy ascents. In the last part, we find the final ascents that lead to the top of the mountain. Here we can admire a huge cave with a collapsed vault that  guards the secret Nuragic village.

The visit of the archaeological site lasts 45 minutes during which the guides will recount the story of this mysterious village and how its archaeological uniqueness makes it incomparable in Sardinia.

TISCALI FROM THE VALLEY OF LANAITTO- OLIENA

Departure: Cala Gonone
Walking trail: approximately 60 minutes one way + visit of the archaeological site

Description of the trekking:
Once at the tunnel of Cala Gonone, take the road towards Dorgali and go past the town. Follow the SS 131 and at the detour take the central road.

After crossing the bridge of the Cedrino Lake, turn left towards Oliena. After a few kilometres, turn at the junction towards the source of Su Gologone. You will find a dirt road near the source that leads to the valley of Lanaitto.

The path to the archaeological site begins not far from the cave of Sa Oche.  It takes about 60 minutes.

The presence of experienced guides is requested in spite of the medium difficultly of the route.

TREKKING CALA LUNA

CALA LUNA FROM BUCHI ARTA WITH RETURN TO CALA FUILI

Duration: full day excursion with guide
Departure: Cala Gonone
Walking trail: 70 minutes to go + 120 minutes to go back

Description of the trekking:
Leaving Cala Gonone ,  pass the roundabout and follow the road leading up to the tunnel. After 3 kilometres (before the tunnel) turn left at the first deviation.

Follow the cemented track that runs along the archaeological site of Nuraghe Mannu. After a few kilometres the narrow cemented track leads to a crossing.

Turn left at the deviation onto the dirt track. You will now face steep ascents up to the beginning of the path that leads to Cala luna beach.  After approximately one hour, the path on calcareous terrain leads to the beach of Cala Luna. Some parts require extreme caution.

A 2-hour trek leads you back  to the beach of Cala Fuili, or alternatively you may choose to return by boat and to the port of Cala Gonone (boats tickets not included in the price).
